425 BC MigrationPRO: Solving the Data Puzzle with AI

Every Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation faces one major hurdle: migrating historical data. Integrating years of financial and operational history into a new system like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) can be tedious and prone to errors.

Industry research consistently shows that data migration is one of the top challenges in ERP implementation. Spreadsheets break, formatting varies, and endless rounds of "data gymnastics" consume time that teams should spend on higher-value work.

Kenny Searfoss, Reporting Analyst, saw this challenge repeatedly. He realized that if clients and consultants alike were dreading the data-loading phase, it was time to rethink the process. That is when AI came into the picture.

Kenny collaborated with experienced Business Central consultants Spencer Kriz and Jordan Nissley to understand the specific pain points clients faced during migrations. He used Microsoft Teams AI to record and analyze their discussions. Kenny then took that analysis and fed it into another AI platform to generate the functional requirements for a solution.

From there, it was a matter of writing the code, performing QA on the source code generated by AI, and testing all aspects of the data migration process. The result was 425 BC MigrationPRO, a solution now in beta testing that guides clients step-by-step through uploading and validating their historical data.

425 BC MigrationPRO does not just move numbers from one place to another. It actively validates the data along the way, flagging discrepancies and ensuring accuracy before any data even gets to Business Central. 

The tool steps clients through:

  • Automatic data validation and file balancing

No more:

  • Managing access to a SharePoint site
  • Lost or forgotten shared files
  • Emails explaining the errors a file contains (if they are even found)
  • Wasted hours spent troubleshooting a nondescript error generated by uploading new data to Business Central 

The process is faster, smoother, and significantly more reliable.

To me the most important aspect for 425 Consulting is that we spend less time on the back and forth. It allows us to focus more on strategic guidance during implementation, where we provide the most value.

Another example of how AI is reshaping our work comes from our summer intern, Sienna Henry. When she joined 425 Consulting, Sienna had little experience with application development of any type. Yet she took on the challenge of building a new product for our PRO Suite: 425 KnowledgePRO.

425 KnowledgePRO is a knowledge platform designed to help organizations author and maintain their policies and procedures in one centralized location. It helps employees find the information they need quickly and easily. They no longer need to search through scattered documents or old handbooks. They have access to everything from onboarding materials to compliance updates in one, searchable, location.

What makes Sienna's story remarkable is how she got there. With a limited background in application development, she used AI as her learning partner.

AI tools helped her write the code and guided her in understanding concepts, fixing errors, and building new features. She continually asked questions and tested AI-generated solutions. Sienna accelerated her learning curve and produced a working prototype application in just one summer.

By the end of her internship, the prototype exceeded expectations. Team members remarked on how many user stories she incorporated and how polished the app felt for a prototype. 425 KnowledgePRO will start beta testing this fall. 

Sienna's work demonstrates a larger truth. AI does not just speed up tasks, it empowers people to create solutions they might have thought were out of reach. With AI as a guide, our team can deliver value that strengthens our product suite and helps our clients.
